Affidavit submitted before Misra Commission

I, Updesh Kaur widow of S. Tarlok Singh, resident of Y-688, Nangloi, now residing at C-126B, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare on oath as under: -

1.            The mob attacked our colony on November 1, 1984, at about 11 AM. There were about 400 – 500 men. They were carrying lathis, iron rods, sticks, kerosene oil tins and some white powder with them. My S. Tarlok Singh hid himself because we saw that the houses of Sikhs were being looted and the Sikhs were being killed. The police was standing there as a mere spectator.

2.           On November 2, 1984, at about 9 AM, my husband went to the Police Station. The police people abused him and asked him to run away from there. When he came out of the Police Station the mob was just outside the police station. The mob killed my husband. People told me that Mr. Bharat Singh and Sajjan Kumar Ex-MP was also there. My uncle asked these two persons to help my husband because all my family members are Congress workers but these two did not help at all.

3.            The police people of the Police Chowki were also there but they did not help us at all.
