I, Avtar Singh Hit S/o S. Harnam Singh aged 55 yrs. R/o B-307, Hari Nagar, Delhi-110064, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:- 

1.                  That I am the President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and I am competent to swear this affidavit.

2.                  That the present  Justice Nanavati Commission of Enquiry has been set up to enquire into the unfortunate and violent incidents that engulfed the entire nation on 31^st October `84, 1<sup>st</sup> November `84 and thereafter. 

3.                  That the first week of November experienced the worst ever violence against the Sikh community.  About 4000 Sikhs were brutally murdered and even the children were not spared.  The properties worth crores was destroyed and burnt. 

4.                  That though many good  Samaritans tried to rescue and help the Sikhs but they were also prevented from doing so and were threatened by dire consequences.

5.                  That I have also filed the statement of case before this Hon’ble Commission on behalf of D.S.G.M.C. which mentions details of this carnage.

6.                  That the Misra Commission of Enquiry was set up in 1985 to enquire into these violent incidents.

7.                   That thereafter the  Nanavati Commision of Enquiry was constituted in May, 2000,  which at present is to enquire into the details of the carnage which hit the entire nation.

8.                  That the victims of 1984 carnage had filed about 619 affidavits before Misra Commission of Enquiry and out of these 575 affidavits are available with the D.S.G.M.C.

9.                  That I am enclosing herewith 575 affidavits as these are very relevant and essential for the purpose of this enquiry to arrive at the truth and the same may be considered.  These affidavits were filed by the victims and other concerned citizens regarding the violence in Delhi.

10.             That it has come to my notice that the Central Government has also filed copies of 3150 affidavits which were earlier filed before Misra Commission of Enquiry which are being considered by this Commission also.

11.             That total 3752 affidavits were received by Misra Commission in Delhi, Kanpur and Bokaro.  The Central Government has omitted to file about 700 affidavits before this present Commission.  It is apprehended that out of these 700 affidavits most of the affidavits may belong to victims.

12.             That I am filing complete set of 575 affidavits with a view that if any affidavit is missing out of the bunch of affidavits filed by the government, the same may be considered from the copies of affidavits filed herewith.
