I, Gian Singh, S/o S. Lal Singh, aged 72 yrs., R/o Shahpura, Guru Nanak Nagar, WZ-278, Gali No.3, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1.                  That in Oct./Nov.`84, I and my family were staying at 532, J.J. Colony, Nangloi, N.D.-110041.  I was a dealer of scrape material and had a large godown.

2.                  That on the night of 31^st Oct.`84, there was lot of disturbance in our colony.  My neighbor advised me to cut my hair and try to run away from Nangloi otherwise I might be killed.

3.                  That fearing great danger, I cut my hair and ran away from my house at midnight of 31^st Oct./Nov.1^st, and moved stealthily towards “General Store”, Punjabi Bagh, where I reached early in the morning.  Then I went to Punjabi Bagh, Police Station which is next to the General Store.  The Police Station on duty rebuked me and chased me away.  He threatened to shoot me if I did not run away.

4.                  That from the Police Station I moved to a heap of oil drums and hid behind the heap.  I could hear and see lot of groups of person moving in buses with lighted torches and shouting anti sikh slogans “Kill the Sikhs –Burn the traitors”.  I was very afraid.

5.                  That from there, I moved to Arya Samaj Mandir nearby.  Since I had already cut my hair, the Pujari called me in – but when I identified myself as a sikh, he directed me to a sikh’s house nearby where some more sikh families were sheltering.  I joined them and stayed there.

6.                  That on 3^rd Nov. morning  I went to Subhash Nagar to a relative’s house and then shifted to Tilak Nagar, Refugee Camp on 4^th Nov.`84.

7.                  That I visited my house in a military vehicle and found that it had been completely looted and burnt.  The godown was also looted and burnt.

8.                  That my wife and three children had gone to Nangloi, Police Station and later joined me in Tilak Nagar Camp on 4-11-84.

9.                  That I suffered a loss of Rs.3 lakhs in the household goods and the godown.  I lodged an FIR with Police Station, Nangloi on 12-11-84.  (copy attached)

10.      That I have received no compensation what so ever so far inspite of representation.
