I, Amar Singh S/o Late S. Ram Singh, aged 58 yrs., R/o C-6/410, Yamna Vihar, Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: - 1. That in October/November`84, I was residing with my family at the abovementioned address. 2. That on 31-10-84, no incident took place in our area. 3. That on 1-11-84, the Sikhs of our locality performed Prabhat Pheri (religious procession early in the morning). When we returned to the Gurdwara after the Prabhat Pheri, the Sikh devotees decided to gave a written information / representation to the SHO of the area about the situation prevailing in our locality stating that there was apprehension of riots taking place and that appropriate steps should be taken by the police to protect the life and property of the residents of our area. 4. That on 1-11-84, at about 9 – 10 AM, when I was standing on the terrace of my house, I saw a white colored car standing near the Park. One person sitting in the car was pointing towards my house and giving some directions to a group of persons carrying lathis, iron rods, sticks etc. standing near the car. After some time the car went away after giving the directions and the people who got the instructions / directions from persons inside the car, attacked my house. They were about 500 – 600 persons. The mob caught hold of me and beat me mercilessly. Two Hindu boys saved me by dragging me towards the gallery and advised me to lie down quietly and pretend like a dead body. I followed their advice. Then those boys started shouting to the mob that the Sardar was dead and that the mob should proceed further. On hearing this, the mob went away presuming me to be dead. 5. That after some time, about 15 – 16 persons came to my street and started inquiring about my dead body from the neighbours. I could hear this conversation from the bathroom where I was concealed by the neighbours. The neighbours told those persons that the dead body of Amar Singh has been taken away by some unknown persons. But the persons who came to inquire about my dead body showed a list to my neighbours and said, “Look Amar Singh’s name has not been stuck off from the list so his dead body has not been taken away.” These persons then searched the house of our neighbours but could not locate me. Then these persons gave threat to my neighbours of dire consequences if the information regarding Amar Singh proved to be false and thereafter, they went away. 6. That I was saved by my neighbours and was rescued on 4-11-84, by the Army and taken to Nanaksar Camp. |
