I, Amarjit Singh S/o S. Amrik Singh, aged 32 yrs., now residing at Shop No.28, Kalgidhar Market, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab-140118, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: -

1.                  That October/November`84, I was residing at 1545/A, Gali No.3, Rohtas Nagar, Shahdara. My parents S. Amrik Singh, Rajinder Kaur, two brothers and one sister was also staying there.

2.                  That I was a Sewadar in the voluntery Sewa Dal of Baba Harbans Singh Ji of Kar Sewa Wale. I had been with the Kar Sewa Dal for the last 4 – 5 years. Nine persons forming one party were located in a big farm at Loni Road, right opposite Guru Harkrishan Public School, Jyoti Nagar, Loni Road, Shahdara, Delhi.

3.                  That on 1-11-84, at about 10 AM, a large mob of about 200 – 300 attacked the school opposite our Dera. On hearing the noise and commotion I climbed on to the roof and saw that the mob was looting the property of the school. I told my colleagues - the other Sewadars in the Dera about the activities of the mob. At that time, there were 9 Sewadars in the Dera including myself. All of us got scared that the mob may attack our Dera also. S. Bhadur Singh, the Jathedar of our Dera told me to watch the activities of the mob from the roof and keep informing me. Accordingly, I hid myself behind the parapet and watched the entire incident of the school being burnt.

4.                  That after looting the school the mob set it on fire. While they were doing this, the police arrived there but they didn’t take any action against. The mob carried on its activities in the presence of the police.

5.                  That after setting the school on fire the mob turned to our Dera. At that time the police was present there. When the mob attacked the Dera. I ran down stairs and told the other Sewadars to run away as the mob was attacking the Dera. All of us ran away towards the fields. The mob followed us. We got scattered. I alongwith two other Sewadars, S. Bhadur Singh & Raju ran towards one side but the mob caught on to us. S. Bhadur Singh & Raju started fighting with the mob. Whilst the mob was engaged with these two persons I ran away. When after some time, I looked back and saw that the mob had caught hold of both of them and were beating them severely. Seeing this I got more scared and ran towards the Nallah and jumped over. I later came to know that Bhadur Singh & Raju alongwith all other Sikh Sewadars were killed by the mob. I was the only survivor. All other eight Sewadars in the Dera were killed by the mob.

6.                  That from there I went to the house of a Hindu whom I know very well. That person disguised me as a girl and kept me about 3 days. After 3 days a military truck arrived there and I was evacuated by them to Shyam Lal College, Shahdara. I remained at the camp for 3 – 4 days.

7.                  That at the time of attack on Dera police was present outside the Dera.

8.                  That in the relief camp at Shyam Lal College there were about 3 – 4 thousand Sikh personnel. There were some social workers, who were looking after this camp.

9.                  That thereafter, Baba Harbans Singh Ji sent me to Anandpur Sahib and since then I am at Anandpur Sahib and got settled there.
