Affidavit of Nanavati Commission

           I, Narinder Kaur, W/o Late Harjeet Singh Grover, aged 58 yrs., R/o B-1/314, Yamuna Vihar, Delhi-53, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1.                  That in Oct./Nov.`84, I and my family consisting of husband,  3 sons were living at the above address in a house built on 70 meters land obtained from D.D.A. at the cost of Rs.50,000/-

2.                  That on 1st Nov. at about midday, a huge violent mob attacked our house.

3.                  That the mob attacked my husband with lathis, iron rods and other lethal weapons and grievously injured him.  When I tried to shield him, I was also attacked.  I sustained head injuries and fractures of hand injuries.

4.                  That the mob looted the house and then attacked my three sons named Manmohan Singh, aged 16 yrs., Sarabjit Singh, aged 14 yrs. and Harvinder Singh, aged 12 yrs.

5.                  That my sons Manmohan Singh and Sarabjit Singh received grievous head injuries and fractures and became unconscious.

6.                  That the mob set the house on fire and burnt my husband alive in that fire.

7.                  That with great difficulty, I some how dragged my two injured sons outside the house and further dragged them to the next house and became unconscious.

8.                  That when I became conscious, I was in Nanaksar refugee camp.  My two grievously injured sons were also there.  The third son was also injured but not grievously.  A copy of the report prepared by the office of the Relief Commissioner on 11/11/84, detailing the grievous nature of the injuries, burns, fractures etc.  is attached.  My son Manohar Singh suffered loss of memory.

9.                  That even after a  lapse of the 16 years, I  and my two sons continue to suffer from the adverse effects of the injuries.  I have a deformed thumb and cannot fully use two fingers of my right hand.  My eldest son has perpetual headache.

10.              That I suffered a loss of Rs.1,50,000/- in the property and household goods.

11.              That I have permanent deformity in both the hands and that my son has a permanent ailment.
