Affidavit of Nanavati Commission

I, Bhupinder Singh S/o S. Sadhu Singh aged about 50 yrs. R/o H.No. 65-C, B-Block, B-Pocket, East (Purvi), Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:- 1. That in Nov.`84, I with my family was residing at H.No.WZ-162 A, Sadh Nagar, Palam Colony, New Delhi-45. 2. That I was employed with Air India as Operator in the operation dept. at IGI Airport. 3. That on 1st Nov.`84, the rioters entered our colony and started killing the Sikhs, looting and burning their properties. That on the same day the mob had burnt the local Gurdwara and on seeing the fire, some of the Sikh families the reached the Gurdwara and managed to save the holy scriptures. That the mob then attacked the said families who had come to save the Gurdwara and its property, however on seeing the mob, we all ran away for safety. The on the said day we managed to escape the wrath of the rioters. 4. That 2nd Nov.`84, we came out of our hiding and while we were proceeding to our house, the rioters again attacked us and some of us managed to escape, however, the mob gheraoed my brother late Sh. Harinder Singh and the mob killed him by putting a tyre around his neck and dousing him by kerosene oil. He was killed on the spot by burning. The rest of us ran for safety to 46 A.D. Regt. 5. That subsequently I lodged an FIR No.415/85, Under Section 147,148,149,427 and 302 IPC against the rioters. Copy of the same is attached herewith. 6. That the death certificate of my brother late Sh. Harinder Singh, issued by the competent authority is also being attached herewith. 7. That I have not received any compensation for the death of my brother except Rs.10,000/- given by the Relief Committee. |
